Mr. Samuel R. Gossett, Jr.
Civil Service Fort Gordon
Evans, GA – Samuel R. Gossett, Jr. went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the V.A. Hospital in Augusta.
Family members include his loving wife of 43 years, Mrs. Barbara Lou Gossett; his daughter: Cherilyn S. Biggs (Jonathan) of Boston; grandchildren: Ella Marie Biggs and Owen Raymond Biggs; mother: Sylvia Gossett of Cleveland, OH; Mr. Gossett was predeceased by his father: Samuel R. Gossett Sr. and his brother: James A. Gossett.
Mr. Gossett was a native of Fredericktown, PA. He retired from the U. S. Army Medical Corps after 21 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart for a combat related injury. Following his services to his country he began a career as a medical records coder for the Civil Service at Fort Gordon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at The Sanctuary with Pastor Bryan Cockrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church. Interment with full military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
