Sandra Moore Straughan
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, April 29, 2018, Mrs. Sandra Alice Schwamlein Moore Straughan, 73, loving wife of Ellsworth “Easy” Straughan.
Mrs. Straughan was born in Pottsville, PA but grew up in Forsyth, GA. She began her professional career as a home economist with Georgia Power, inherited and operated “Flowers by Helen” in Forsyth and later taught elementary school in Thomson, GA. She attended Hillcrest Baptist Church and was active at St. John’s Towers.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Straughan was artistically creative, loved to design flowers arrangements and bows, play piano and sing. She was a selfless giver to everyone she knew.
In addition to her husband and his family, survivors include her daughter: Alice Jones and husband Jay; son: Doug Moore and wife Jennifer; grandchildren: Gerald “Trey” Jones, III, Blake Moore, Alicesandra Marie Jones, and Brooke Moore; and father of her children: James D. Moore, Sr. She is preceded in death by her brother, Albert Schwamlein, Jr.
The funeral service will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Todd Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in Forsyth at a later date.
