Sara Glass Collier

Sara Glass Collier of Southern Pines, N.C., formerly of Augusta/Martinez, Georgia, died on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Coventry Assisted Living Home, St. Joseph of the Pines.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2011 in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Paul James, Elder and Bob Hookness, Deacon officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Edgewood Garden Club.

Mrs. Collier was born in Union, S.C. and was the daughter of the late Frank and Ramoth Frances Bailey Glass. She lived for many years in Augusta/Martinez where she was a member of the Abilene Baptist Church and the Edgewood Garden Club. Sara was the widow of Retired Sgt. First Class Gayle H. Collier. She was preceded in death by her four sisters, Marie Glass, Nettie Glass, Janie Glass Shetley, and Virginia Glass James, and by her brother, Billy Glass.

Mrs. Collier is survived by a sister-in-law, Doris Glass of Lancaster, S.C., a nephew, Paul James and his wife Julie of Seven Lakes, N.C., two great nieces, Alison James McCloskey and her husband Michael of Aberdeen N.C., Ann Marie James Berberi and her husband Ilir of Whispering Pines, N.C., and a great, great nephew, Ryland Gunner McCloskey of Aberdeen, N.C.

Memorials may be made to the Abilene Baptist Church, 3917 Washington Road, Martinez, Georgia, 30907 or to St. Joseph of the Pines, Pine Knoll Fund, Attention Linda Castillo, 100 Waters Drive, Southern Pines, N.C., 28387.
