Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Tuesday, November 14, 2017, Mrs. Sarah Francis Rowe Allen, 98, loving wife to the late H.B. Allen, Jr.

Mrs. Allen was born in 1919 in New Brockton, AL but grew up in Enterprise, AL. She was a 1940 graduate of Auburn University and also from WMU Training School with a Masters in Religious Education in 1946. Before her marriage and in early marriage Sarah worked as Baptist Campus Minister in Tennessee and Kentucky.

In 1985 Mrs. Allen retired from 25 years of teaching with the Richmond County Board of Education. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Richmond County Retired Educators Association (RCREA) and the Hearing Loss Association. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church and was active in WMU, and taught the Thankful Sunday school class for many years. After retirement, she taught Conversational English as a second language. One of the things Sarah enjoyed most was taking flowers from First Baptist Church to area hospitals and nursing homes on Monday mornings.

She is survived by sons: James Allen (Tina) of Columbus, OH; Ralph Allen (Patti) of Greensboro, NC and Edward “Eddie” Allen (Jayne) of Augusta, GA; Grandchildren: Lynne Bell (Doug), Kay Chapman (Brian), Jordan Allen, Sarah Lauren Allen, Ben Allen and Anna Katharine Allen. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Allen is predeceased by parents: Charles and Mercer Edmonds Rowe; two brothers: Randolph Rowe and William (Bill) Rowe; and sister: Helen Rowe Boyd.

A graveside service will be Friday, November 24, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Patti Fowler officiating.
