Sgt. Byrnie Limuel Hardin, Sr.

Augusta, GA – Sgt. Byrnie Limuel Hardin, Sr., 56, went to be with his Lord on June 11, 2011. Mr. Hardin was a native of Jefferson County and had spent most of his life in Augusta. He retired after 33 years with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. He began his career as a records clerk and also worked as a 911 Dispatcher. In 1981 he became a certified deputy and continued his career in the jail before becoming a Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division as the Evidence Supervisor. Byrnie devoted his life to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and he loved and respected the men and women that served as officers. Due to health issues Byrnie retired on October 31, 2010.
Byrnie never met a stranger and had a passion for the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends and especially his good friend and mentor Charlie Webster. He enjoyed all sports and especially enjoyed playing golf at Green Meadows Golf Club where he was a member. Byrnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Deborah Cole Hardin of North Augusta; sons: Byrnie Limuel Hardin, Jr. and his wife Rachel of Hephzibah, Randall Thomas Hardin of Augusta, Brian John Hardin of Harlem; his mother Margaret Virginia Hardin of Evans; stepson, Joseph Mikel French of Iowa; stepdaughter Teresa Marie French of North Augusta; sister Gina Hardin Weeks and husband Larry of Evans, Megan Weeks of Grovetown; a grandson Aiden; his uncle John Hardin; his aunt Thelma and Kenneth Coheley of Centre, AL; and cousin Diane Brittan. He was preceded in death by Limuel T. Hardin.
Pallbearers will be Don Skinner, Don Skinner, Jr., Charles B. Webster, Duncan Fordham, John Paul Jones, Robbie Silas, Boyce Thompson and Gene Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Norris, Whitey Lester, Charles Toole, Max Usry, Kenny Miles, Dr. David Scharff, members of the Green Meadows Golf Club and the Employees of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Department.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Jerry Wilson and Rev. Timmy Pendry officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
