Mr. Shelby “Wayne” Beaty
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, December 22, 2011, Mr. Shelby “Wayne” Beaty, 67, husband of Mrs. Regina Wuestenhoefer Beaty.
Mr. Beaty, a native son of Jamestown, TN and resided in the Augusta area. He was a member of Curtis Baptist Church. He volunteered for the draft and joined the U.S. Army in 1962 with Basic Training at Ft. Chaffee, AR. Mr. Beaty retired at Ft. Gordon after 30 years of service as a Sergeant Major. He also worked in Supervision at The Augusta Dept. of Labor for 15 years. After retirement he began to reclaim his Tennessee roots and started a second home away from home back in Jamestown. Mr. Beaty enjoyed traveling back to his little country home/farm and enjoyed planting crops and then canning, just as his parents use to do.
Family members in addition to his wife include sons: James Beaty of Charlotte, NC, Francis Beaty and wife Laura of Evans, GA; daughter: Trisha Stone and husband Brad of North Augusta, SC; grandchildren: Karli, Colton, Noah, Alix, Carson, Blaine and Blake. He was predeceased by his parents Hoy and Edith Beaty; sister: Maudie; and brothers: Frank, Kyle, William, and Millard.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Mundy Funeral Home, Jamestown, TN with Rev. Alfred Byrd officiating. Interment will follow at Albertson Cemetery in Jamestown, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project @ 1190 Interstate Parkway Augusta, GA. 30909.
