Augusta, GA – Shirlee Renick Duncan 82, passed away December 29, 2009 in Martinez after a lingering illness. Mrs. Duncan, a long time resident of Augusta, was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on June 4, 1927. She grew up in McAlester, OK and attended Mt. Saint Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas and Oklahoma State University. She left in her junior year to attend Fashion Art School in Kansas City, MO. Mrs. Duncan was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Oklahoma State. Shirlee worked as a fashion illustrator for Nelly Don Corporation, Carr’s Town and Country Stores, and J.B. White Department Store. Shirlee did freelance portraits of pets and people.
Family members include her daughters: Roberta (Danny) Sheehan of Augusta, Beverly (Jon) Larson of Lakeland, FL, Holly Jones of Marietta, GA; son: Clay (Lisa) Renick of Statesboro, GA; twin sister: Beverly Geiger of Oregon; fourteen grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and many devoted friends.
Mrs. Duncan was predeceased by her daughter: Maria Renick Sanson.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Fr. Gaspar Hegedus celebrant.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 12:40; a rosary will be recited until the time of the Mass at 1:00 p.m.
