Shirley Darby

Augusta, Georgia – Shirley Darby, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, with her loving husband, Carl Darby, of 71 years by her side.

Shirley was a lifelong resident of Augusta, Georgia, known for her upbeat personality, kindness, and lifelong passion for dance and aerobics. She was heavily involved in these activities throughout her life. Shirley was also a dedicated member of Trinity on the Hill. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Brookdale Senior Living,  Martha Balk, Ginger Johnson, June Darby and Bobby Baker for the compassionate care provided to Shirley and Carl. Your kindness and dedication were greatly appreciated. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Carl Darby; her son, Carl Darby Jr.; her daughter, Heather Darby Garren; her grandchildren, Alison (Grayson) Godley, Katie (Evan) Schantz, Robert (Tori) Darby, Chandler (Isabelle) Darby, and Mary Darby Garren; and her brothers, Ben Heath and Chip (Sheila) Heath. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Ben, and Maya. Additionally, she is survived by Paul Garren, Susan Darby, and June Darby, who she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys Heath, and her beloved son David Darby, whom she missed dearly every day.

The memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity on the Hill with Rev. Scott Hearn and Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Baker, Louis Walker, J. Lee, David Hudson, Tim Shields, and Earl Wright.
