Shirley Usry, age 79, of Augusta, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. She will be remembered as a strong and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and true friend. Shirley was born in Augusta, Ga, to the late John Allen, and Mary Sutton Allen of Augusta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Eurus Cady, Jr., and her late husband Lloyd Usry. Shirley is survived by her seven children, Nellie Cady Bacon (William “T”), Eurus Cady III, Rose Mary Wilkie (Merrill), James Michael Cady (Lisa), George Eugene Cady, Sherrill Cady Bodie, and Christopher Cady (Jennifer) and eighteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren, and beloved nephew Charles Howard Snyder (Debbie).
Shirley was a devoted Catholic and had been a past member of Sacred Heart and Holy Trinity Catholic Church for many years. Shirley was a retired nurse and had worked at both Doctor’s and University Hospital in Augusta, as well as The Medical College. Over the years Shirley enjoyed spending time vacationing and visiting with her children and grandchildren. Shirley also enjoyed going on trips and shopping at Wal Mart with friends. She enjoyed watching Braves baseball and Georgia Bulldog Football.
The family would like to give sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and nurses at Lake Crossing Medical Center in Appling, Ga for their never-ending comfort and support during her final days. They would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Alliance Hospice for their wonderful care.
A funeral Mass will be held at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday April 4th, 2018”. The Church is at 4921 Columbia Rd., Grovetown, Ga. The family will receive friends immediately following Mass in St. Theresa’s fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, or a charity of your choice.
