Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, March 11, 2023, Mr. Sichuor Yuk, 74, loving husband of 42 years to Pha Yuk.
Cambodian natives who sought refuge from the Khmer Rouge, Sichuor and his wife came to the U.S. through a sponsorship by members of Abilene Baptist Church, where Sichuor worked as the maintenance supervisor for 18 years.
Prior to coming to the U.S., Sichuor learned English by translating Cambodian to French and French to English. Having to destroy all of his academic records to safely escape the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia, he greatly valued education and ensured that his children had every opportunity to become successful. In his spare time, he loved tinkering with and fixing things using his electrician background, as well as gardening with his wife.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his children: Wennie Squires (Charles) and Daniel Jaeger.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907, (706) 364-8484.
