Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, Sigrid Erika Hensley, 93, wife of the late James D. Hensley.

Sigrid, known affectionately as “Siggie”, was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. She came to the United States in 1949, proud wife of a soldier. Siggie was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection where she managed the Altar Guild and participated in many volunteer activities. Siggie had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for her excellent German and American versions of potato salad enjoyed by her family and friends.

Family members include her children: Walter A. “Sonny” Hensley (Carol), Angela H. Yarbrough (Clark); grandchildren: Nicole Goerge (Adam) and Trent Hensley (Jessica); great grandchildren: Caden Goerge, Harper Hensley and David Hensley and many other loving family members.

The funeral service will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection with Pastor David Hunter officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Forces United, a local Wounded Warrior Project, 701 Greene Street, Suite 104, Augusta, GA 30904 or Hands of Grace Hospice, 119 Davis Road, Suite 6A, Martinez, GA 30907.
