Sis Hardy Kauffmann
Augusta, GA – Doris Christine “Sis” Hardy Kauffmann, 89, entered into rest Sunday, June 15, 2014.
Mrs. Kauffmann was born in Martinez, GA and was a lifelong resident of Augusta. She worked at C & WC-ACL Railroad for 11 years. After raising her children she returned to work in the office of Dr.’s Boyd, Williams and Oliver. She retired in 1989. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and the French Bible Class.
Survivors include a daughter: Tina Slendak (Bo); sons: Bill Hardy (Peggy) and Bob Hardy (Mary Lee); grandsons: Andy Slendak, Steven Hardy (Kimber), Ben Hardy and Charles Horton; sister: Martha Gibbs Marohn; sisters-in-law: Joan Gibbs and Joyce Gibbs; brother-in-law: Bill Millians; numerous nieces and nephews, and step-children: Jim Kauffmann (Casey) and Sharon Green (Bobby).
Mrs. Kauffmann was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years: Reuben O. Hardy and her husband of 13 years: James E. Kauffmann; her parents: James Embry and Loree Walton Gibbs; brothers: Jim Gibbs, Bob Gibbs and George Edward Gibbs; and sisters: Bettye Owens Millians and Marguerite Gibbs.
The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to Mrs. Kauffmann’s caregivers Evonna Howard, Cloretta Davis and Lynda Ann Lindsey for their loving support.
A funeral service will be at St. Mark United Methodist Church Monday, June 23 at 11:00 am with Rev. Charles Broome officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Andy Slendak, Steven Hardy, Ben Hardy, George Stewart, Stuart DeLoach and Grady Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be the French Bible Class.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mark United Methodist Building Fund at 2367 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30904 or to a charity of one’s choice.
