Evans, GA – Entered into rest on Sunday, September 3, 2023, Mr. Stephen Hancock Crane, 78, loving husband of 27 years to Mrs. Maria Ledford Crane.
Stephen was born and raised in Washington, DC until he joined the Marine Corps. As an officer, he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He had several different jobs before he got a master’s degree in English and taught at University of South Florida. His most rewarding job was being a peer counselor for combat veterans with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. He completed his career working for the army in Germany and taking care of active duty soldiers.
Family members in addition to his wife include his stepdaughter: Debbie Cernuto; stepson: Tony Cernuto; granddaughter: Alexandria Cernuto; and nephew and nieces: Curtis Bradley, Rebecca Bradley, and Beth Bradley. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Evelyn Crane and his sister, Susie Bradley.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church with Rev. Glenn Palmer officiating. Interment will be on Wednesday, September 13th at Quantico National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
