Steve Kowalczyk

Steve Kowalczyk
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest April 2, 2016, Steven Gene Kowalczyk, son of Fern and the late Eugene Kowalczyk. Born in Bitburg, Germany, he traveled the country with the military, retiring as a US Army Veteran before moving to Augusta. Locally he worked for LC Industries and took special pride in servicing his military brothers and sisters at Fort Gordon. A father of five, Steve loved his kids, his grandkids, and the Green Bay Packers. Nothing made him happier than feeding dollars to the grandkids’ piggy banks and watching football, especially when the Packers played the rival Dallas Cowboys.
Steve is survived by his mother, Barbara Fern Kowalczyk; two sisters and brothers-in-law Tammy and Stephen Hightower; Shirlyn and Clark Cummings; four sons and daughters-in-law Christopher and Pamela Kowalczyk, Ryan and Jennifer Kowalczyk, Adam and Leslie Kowalczyk, and Matthew Kowalczyk; his precious granddaughters Natalie, Katelyn, and Ksenia Kowalczyk; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his angel daughter Vicki Anne Kowalczyk. Steve’s life was enriched each and every day by his “forever family friends” Christy and Ann Gilmour.
A graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park this Friday, April 8 at 2:00 p.m., with Father Gonzalo Meza celebrant. Friends are invited to join the family at home following the service.
