Mr. Stewart P. Walker, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, April 9, 2010 at Doctors Hospital, Mr. Stewart P. Walker, Jr., 72, husband of Betty Walker.
Mr. Walker was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He graduated from Sewanee Military Academy in 1955 and the University of Georgia in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Mr. Walker worked with his father and brothers at Walker Ford, and then worked for the City of Augusta until his retirement. Mr. Walker’s passion in life was his family, church and the University of Georgia football.
Family members in addition to his wife include daughters: Laura W. Boyd (Joe), Julia W. Hickman (Mike); son: Stewart P. Walker, III; grandchildren: Jim, Elizabeth, Walker, and Virginia Boyd, Brooks Towler (William), Sarah Daniel, Corey Hickman and Brianna Hickman; great-granddaughter: Carson Towler; brothers: Louis G. Walker (Janelle), and W. Stovall Walker (Sherry). He was preceded in death by his parents: Stewart P. Walker and Eleanor G. Walker.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 12, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Dr. Rick Sanders officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Cree Kilpatrick, Joe Lojewski, Thomas Houck, S. Perry Houck, Gordon Huff, Jack Mohney, L. Phillip Christman and Clay Coleman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 605 Reynolds Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
