Augusta, GA – Entered into rest April 15, 2013, Mrs. Sue Carstarphen, 76, wife of Thomas Jefferson Carstarphen.
Mrs. Carstarphen was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She attended the Medical University of South Carolina, graduated from Barrett School of Nursing and retired as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at the Medical College of Georgia. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, family members include sons: Dwight T. Grant, Barry William Grant of Augusta, GA; step-daughters: Tammy Gail Carstarphen of Augusta, GA, Tracy Chavous and husband Trey of Augusta, GA; six grand-children; brother: Aaron Hendricks; sisters: Lera Holder, Avis Oliff and Diane Flanders. Mrs. Carstarphen is preceded in death by her brother: Clifford Hendricks; sister: Geraldine Hendricks Bailey; and parents: William Roy Hendricks and Marguerite Winfrey.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Alan Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3185 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, GA 30909.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
