Susan Kennedy Childers

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Susan Kennedy Childers,72, surrounded by her family went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was the loving wife of 53 years to Mr. Gene D. Childers, Sr.

Susan was born in Augusta, Georgia. She graduated from Butler High School and Augusta Technical College. Susan was the former owner of Augusta Collection Agency. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Susan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She adored her two grandsons, they were the light of her life and brightened her days.

Family members in addition to her husband include her children: Gene D. Childers, Jr. (Merry), Christopher Bryan Childers, Allison Rebecca Gunter (Jeff); grandchildren: Zachary Childers and Ezekiel Gunter. She is also survived by her sister Vickie Kennedy Shipman (Darryl). Susan was preceded in death by her parents Wesley Russell Kennedy and Willie Kennedy Scott and her brother Russell Kennedy. 

The funeral service will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Floyd Harrison III officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church Family Life Center Building Fund, 4943 Columbia Rd, Grovetown, GA 30813.
