Susan Garrison Rogers
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, February 11, 2021, Susan Garrison Rogers, 72, loving companion of Kelley Timmerman.
A native of Athens, Georgia, Susan graduated from Athens High School. She attended Young Harris College, the University of Georgia and earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Augusta College. Susan began her career as a teacher at Southside Elementary and George P. Butler High School before becoming assistant principal at T.W. Josey High School. She retired after serving as principal of Hephzibah High School.
In her spare time, Susan enjoyed involvement in numerous organizations, including: Daughters of the American Revolution, Augusta Chapter; United Daughters of the Confederacy, W.H.T. Walker Chapter; Augusta-Richmond County Historical Society; Historic Augusta; National Ladies Auxiliary of Georgia Charter Member; National Society Sons of the American Revolution; Young Harris College 1886 Club; Greater Augusta Chapter, University of Georgia Alumni Association; Richmond County Retired Educators Association Life Member; and the Georgia Retired Educators Association. Susan was a past member of Rho Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma; the American Association of University Women; Richmond County Association of Educators; Professional Association of Georgia Educators. She was also a devoted member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church
Family members include her step-children: Wesley Rogers, Teresa Rogers Hardy; grandchildren: Houston Breedlove, Hayden Breedlove, Taylor Rogers; brother: Jim Garrison (Stella); nephew: Michael Garrison; and devoted canine companion: Polly. Susan was preceded in death by her husband: Samuel T. “Sam” Rogers; parents: Lucille and Jack Garrison; and special aunt: Flo Gillespie
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Nadine Ellsworth – Moran officiating. A private entombment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
