Augusta, GA - Entered into rest Sunday, February 8, 2015, Mrs. Sylvia Moutos Mayson, 83,loving wife to the late William Penland "Pen" Mayson, Jr.
Mrs. Mayson was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. She graduated from Tubman High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Agnes Scott College in 1952. She married William Penland Mayson, Jr. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Augusta in 1958, and they remained together until his death in 2011.
Mrs. Mayson worked as a Research Chemist at both the Veterans Administration and Medical College of Georgia. She faithfully volunteered to help on countless charitable organizations and groups throughout her life, always considering the needs of others. She entertained and graciously hosted family and friends at the beach, the lake and at their home. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends at the Augusta Country Club. She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church from birth, and after marriage joined St. Paul's Episcopal Church for the remainder of her life. She had a passion for the Alter Guild, adored the church service, and loved the music. She was elegant and always tasteful.
Family members include her sons: William Penland Mayson, III and his wife Wanda, Dr. Mark James Mayson and his wife Julie; daughter: Catherine Mayson; grandchildren: Alexandra Marie
Mayson, William Penland Mayson IV, James Harper Mayson, Trado Demet Mayson; sister in law M. Jeanene Mayson; nieces: Ashley Seps and Christy White; and family friend Kayla

The family would like to thank Barbara Smith and Kelly and David Day, of MYD Services for their love and care of Sylvia over the past several years. The family also wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to Nicole Griffe, Shirley House, Kathy Kubinski and LaTonya Nugin for their exemplary care and love shown to Sylvia.
Funeral services and reception will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Kelsey Hutto and Dr. Mary Kathleen Blanchard. A family graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park afterwards. Pallbearers will be William Penland Mayson IV, James Harper Mayson, Trado Demet Mayson, Richard Mayson, Jr, William Crane Garren, Jr and John Chris Moutos.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 605 Reynolds St., Augusta, GA 30901.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son
