Ashville, NC- Tamassee Anne (Everette) Ayres, 81, died September 23, at Mission Hospital, Asheville, NC, surrounded by her loving family. Anne was born and spent her early childhood in Clemson, SC, near a large, extended family with 6 brothers and 8 sisters.
She grew up in North Carolina, where she attended Campbell College before she enrolled in Highsmith Hospital School of Nursing in Fayetteville, NC, and graduated as a proud RN.
In a stellar career of over 35 years, Anne received awards for outstanding achievement and leadership for work with psychiatric patients at various hospitals, and at Eisenhower Hospital on Fort Gordon with soldiers in addiction recovery and rehabilitation.

Anne lived for three years on the military base in Yokihama, Japan, with her husband and young family and later became an intrepid traveler. She visited China shortly after its borders were reopened, Israel, Peru, the Galapagos Islands, Europe, and extensively in the U.S.

Anne was predeceased by Allen Henry Everette, her husband of over 35 years, and her second love, Gene Ayres, and four brothers. She is survived by daughter Michelle Everette of Johnson City, TN; son and daughter-in-law Allen Henry (Jim), Jr. and Sylvia Everette of Fort Myers, FL; grandson and wife Christopher Ian Brownlee and Kathryn Shanks of Oakland, CA; granddaughter and husband Jennifer and Alessio Dainelli of Atlanta, GA; grandson Kenneth Everette of Pigeon Forge, TN; sisters Barbara (Brooke) Mobley and Judith McGinn of Skaneateles, NY; sister-in-law Barbara Moore of Durham, NC, various nieces, nephews and members of the Ayres family.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, September 26, Hillcrest Cemetery, Augusta, GA.
