Thomas "Sweets" Balliet, Sr.

Thomas “Sweets” Balliet, Sr. Entered into rest on Saturday, July 1, 2023, Thomas “Sweets” C. Balliet, Sr., 81, loving husband of Brenda Balliet.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sons: Thomas Balliet, Jr., James Balliet (Karen), Jason Balliet, and Trevor Balliet (Laura); grandchildren: Morgan Balliet and John Chapman Balliet; and sister: Kathleen Goettsch (Russ). He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Edna Balliet. Tom was born in Charleston, SC and spent the first 35 years of his life there with the exception of his time of service in the U. S. Marine Corps. He retired some years ago after a successful career as a partner in B & N Mechanical Contractors. Among his favorite passions was time spent with friends playing golf, telling lies, and proclaiming himself, “World’s Greatest Putter.” One of his strict instructions involved absolutely no funeral doings on Wednesdays or Fridays because they were golf days. Tom was a very devoted husband to his wife of 42 years and loving father to his 4 sons. Most important to him were his family and friends. On his very best days, Tom could be found with a vodka and grapefruit in one hand and a cigarette in the other playing golf, traveling or spending time with his friends.

A celebration in Tom’s honor will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at their family residence.
