Thomas "Pat" Leeking

Thomas Patrick “Pat” Leeking, 82 years old, passed away peacefully at the University Hospital in Augusta Georgia on October 24, 2021. Pat was born on January 20, 1939 in Augusta, Georgia.
He was survived by his wife Sue Leeking, his daughter Nancy Sutphin (Chris), his son Patrick Leeking (Melissa), his three stepchildren Sharon Thornton (David), Karen Boswell (Mark), Chris Ratcliff (Beth) eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Pat was also survived by two very special people that he loved and considered family, Chuck Cromer and Rick Bevels. Pat and Sue were married on July 4, 1998 in Wyoming and since that date, they have been inseparable. Pat enjoyed riding motorcycles and taught Sue how to ride and eventually bought her one and they often enjoyed rides all over the United States, including Sturgis, South Dakota, Daytona Bike Week, riding through the mountains, and many rides for different charities. Pat and his wife Sue were lifetime members of the Harley Owners Group and treasured the many friendships that they established along the way. Pat also was a lover of horses. He shoed horses on the racetracks up and down the east coast and even rodeoed in his younger days! Pat and Sue met at Daniel Village Barber shop back in 1974. She thought he was the most aggravating person she had ever worked with, and he chased her until she caught him! Pat eventually bought the
shop and they enjoyed this business venture together for many, many, years and made some very special friends that have meant the world to them both. Pat enjoyed working until he couldn’t work anymore. This shop and all of his employees that were just like family, and the many loyal customers
that were also like family to him, it gave him the pep in his step every day. He never wanted to retire.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son, with Reverend Michael Sutphin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Hospital.
