Augusta, GA – Thomas Watson Hardy, Jr. 84, entered into rest after an extended illness on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at University Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Morris Hardy and his parents, Sadie and Thomas Watson Hardy, Sr.

After attending local schools, including Richmond Academy, Mr. Hardy joined the U. S. Navy during WW II. He then returned to service in 1949 (U. S. Army) where he fought with distinction and was awarded the Bronze Star during the Korean conflict with the 5th Regiment combat team of the 24th division. He was a member of the Korean Veterans Association. After leaving the army, he worked at the Savannah River Site until his retirement in 1986.

Surviving family members include: daughter: Becky Jo Hardy Smith (Randy); sons: Clinton Watson Hardy (Cheryl), Clayton Sam Hardy (Joyce); grandchildren: Rebecca Elizabeth Smith, Michael Daniel Smith, Elizabeth Inez Hardy, Clinton Watson Hardy II; step-grandchildren: Katherine Cross Smith of New York, Randolph Relihan Smith, Jr. of Atlanta, John Ryan Story and Greg Tyler Story. He is also survived by his sister, Janette Hardy Wilson.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Rick Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
