Tim F. Maund

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, October 14, 2023, Timothy Faulk “Tim” Maund, 89, loving husband of Carolyn Maund.

Mr. Maund was the first Executive Director of the CSRA Regional Commission, which he led for 38 years until his retirement in 2000.  Under Mr. Maund’s leadership, the Commission pointed out the impact that water and sewer facilities, affordable housing, solid waste management, recreation, transportation planning, human-resource development, small business loans, and industrial parks would have on the continued socio-economic growth of the region.  Mr. Maund guided the Commission in its endeavors to meet those needs of the thirteen counties in the CSRA.  As a result of that vision, Mr. Maund founded two affiliate organizations.  In 1974, Mr. Maund worked with local leaders to establish the CSRA Area Agency on Aging that now decades later has assisted thousands of Senior Citizens in the region with a myriad of community services. In 1979, he led the effort with local bankers to establish CSRA Business Lending as a non-profit small business lending arm of the Commission. That organization has now funded 975 loans with projects exceeding $875 million dollars.

Mr. Maund’s achievements over his 40-year career included many of the things that we take for granted today.  Local industrial parks across the region host businesses that employ thousands of people working and living in the area.  Key transportation routes such as the Savannah River Parkway and the Fall Line Freeway are a result of the Commission’s transportation planning services. Local and regional comprehensive planning initiatives took place to improve the overall quality of life at the city, county and regional levels.

Tim loved the Lord, loved his wife, Carolyn, like Christ loves the church until her death in 2019, loved his children and grandchildren, loved his friends, and loved all those with whom he had the pleasure of knowing throughout his life.  His kindness and unending desire to help people in any way he could was truly a wonderful example of God’s command to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).

He also loved helping people get to know Christ through the teaching of God’s word, prayer, encouragement, kindness, and compassion.  His eternal impact on others is yet to be fully realized.  Our family is eternally grateful for a father, father-in-law, uncle and grandfather who taught us how to love God and others as God intended – not perfectly, but blamelessly, with grace and mercy.

Family members include his three sons and their wives: Mark T. Maund (Christie) Augusta, Mitchell M. Maund (Rebecca) Montgomery, AL, Robert C. Maund (Mary Brooks) Charlotte, NC; and grandchildren:  Katherine, Mary Baker, Houston, Kirsten, Cameron, Landon, Paxton, Brooks, Julia, and Charles.

The family has requested no flowers, and that memorial gifts be made to the Augusta Tech Foundation, 3200 Augusta Tech Drive, Augusta, GA 30906.

The memorial service will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at St. John United Methodist Church with Rev. Jenny Anderson and Rev. Mark Maund officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 A.M., at the church.
