Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, September 2, 2023, Mr. Tonney Lee Young, 75, loving husband of 45 years to Michel Young.

Tonney was born and raised in Fulton, MS. He graduated and was a loyal fan of the Mississippi State University Bulldogs. He enjoyed fishing and classic cars. He was very passionate and was committed to whatever he was doing. Tonney was an animal lover, especially when it came to his dogs, a good Christian man who was generous with his time and was a devoted member of Grove First Baptist Church. Tonney was extremely proud of and close to his family, dependable, a wonderful storyteller, and never met a stranger. Tonney served three years in the U.S. Army and then completed many years of service with the federal government, the last 28 with the U.S. Department of Labor as a Wage Hour Compliance Officer.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughter: Elizabeth Young; son: Stephen Young (Cara) of Denver, CO; grandchildren: Owen and Adeline; brother: Donnie Young (Pam) of Vero Beach, FL; sister: Linda Weatherford (Eddy) of Tupelo, MS; and many other loving family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Velma Young, and brother, Roger Young.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Randall Whitaker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M., at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
