Augusta, GA – Entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Thursday, July 27, 2023, Tonya L. Sayers, Esq., 55 years of age.
Tonya was born in Louisville, KY. While she lived most of her life in Augusta, GA, she also spent many years in Hilton Head Island, SC.
Following her graduation from Westside High School, Tonya received her Bachelor’s degree in marketing from Georgia Southern University where she was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha, the Wesley Foundation, and Pi Sigma Epsilon. She then became a trained Paralegal before receiving her Juris Doctor degree from Regent University School of Law, and, finally, her LL.M. in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law. After several years as an attorney specializing in estate planning, she had recently launched the Sayers Law Firm, LLC.
Tonya was a giving soul who made and delivered countless meals for the nonprofit organization LasagnaLove.org. She also created and gifted amazing flannel quilts for many charitable organizations and friends. She was most recently a founding Board Member of ToaDGivesBack.org.
She loved to travel, especially with friends. In addition to traveling throughout the US, with her friends she explored Ecuador, the Galapagos, Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland, the Caribbean, and had plans to visit Italy and Greece this Fall. One of Tonya’s favorite places to visit was Walt Disney World, where she had participated in the College Program. She met many of her closest friends through her love of Disney and Disney travel.
Tonya is survived by her brother Douglas Sayers (Karen); sister, LeighAnn Chambley (John); nephew John “Chip” Chambley (Elizabeth) and their children Harrison, Harper, and Hadley; niece Sarah Kate Chambley; and nephews Benjamin Sayers and Ryan Sayers. She is also survived by a circle of dear and lifelong friends from every stage of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Ronny Joe Sayers and Mrs. Carol Strickland Sayers.
A Celebration of Life for Tonya will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made to ToaDGivesBack.org.
