Martinez, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, March 13, 2011, U. S. Boatman, 88, husband of Mrs. June “Gay” Boatman.

Mr. Boatman was a native of Canton, GA. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 19. Following WWII he began a career with GE that lasted over 40 years. He was honored as salesman of the year in 1980. He was a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church and the Damren Sunday School Class, Westlake Country Club and the Downtown Kiwanis.

Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: Bill Boatman (Kathy), John C. Boatman (Lisa), daughter, the late Sandra Gail Anderson (Bill H. Anderson), grandchildren, Troy Guthrie (Ellen), Chris Guthrie, Clay Boatman (Connie), Adam Boatman (Ansley), Katy Boatman, Ian Boatman, great grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Guthrie, John C. Guthrie, Shelby J. Boatman. Mr. Boatman was the son of William M. and Annie Boatman and was last of 12 children. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to thank the staff of Ga. War Veterans Nursing Home and his personal nurse Willa Phillipps for the love and care that they gave.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill UMC, Building Fund,
1330 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, GA 30904 or to the GA War Vet Nursing Home, 1101 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30901.
