Appling, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at Trinity Hospital of Augusta, Mr. Vadis Irvin Wylds, Jr., 83, husband of the late Inez Wylds.
Mr. Wylds was a native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area. He was a Veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII on the USS Waukesha and he maintained friendships and relationships with many of those he served with. Mr. Wylds was the oldest living active member of the Shrine Club go-cart unit. He was a retired circulation Director for the Augusta Chronicle who worked for them over 70 years and loved every minute of it. Mr. Wylds was a member of Damascus Baptist Church. He loved his children and family, they loved him, he also leaves behind many beloved friends.
Family members include his sons: Vadis I. Wylds III and wife Lizabeth of Augusta, Ernest N. Wylds and wife Joy of Parksville, SC; daughter: Helen Faye Accerbi of Charleston, SC; grandchildren: Warren A. Wylds and wife Meg, Richie Richardson, Hallie Wylds Ritz and husband Matt, Brett Richardson, Terri Layne Richardson, Pressley Accerbi, Whit Accerbi; great-grandchildren: Warren Andrew Wylds, Jr. and Donavan Accerbi and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wylds was preceded in death by his younger brother: Larry Jackson Wylds, Sr.
Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Joe Hester officiating. Pallbearers will be the Alee Temple Shriners.
