Valeria A. vonLehe Williams
Augusta, GA – Valeria A. vonLehe Williams, 86, died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at her home following a long illness. She was born and raised in the Low Country, in Walterboro, South Carolina.
She graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1949. While at Agnes Scott, she was given the title of “KA Sweetheart” from Emory University, her future husband’s fraternity. She began her teaching career in Brunswick, Georgia but, in time, chose to give that up to raise her three children.
She was very active in the Women of the Church and Meals on Wheels program at her church and made lifelong friends there.
She was preceded in death, in 2006, by her beloved husband of 56 years, M. Don Williams, Jr., father Diederick Petermann vonLehe and mother, Rhea W. vonLehe.
Survivors include her three children, Susan Williams, Augusta, GA, Ann Williams Haywood, Martinez, GA and M. Don Williams III (wife Debbie) of Mobile, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister, Rhea vonLehe Ashley of Orangeburg, SC and her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. D. Petermann vonLehe, Jr. and wife Elfi vonLehe of Goose Creek, SC.
Additional survivors include her 5 grandchildren, Tripp Haywood (Leslie), David Haywood, Claire Williams, Paige Frame (John) and Laine Williams. She was also survivied by 6 great-grandchildren, Taylor Haywood, Tanner Haywood, Jack Frame, Kate Frame, Emily Frame and Courtney Ray.
A memorial service will be at Covenant Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 11:00 AM with The Rev. Robert M. Watkins and The Rev. Karla Conditt-Daniels officiating. Her family will receive friends after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her honor to Covenant Presbyterian Church. Her daughters wish to thank all of her extended family and friends at Covenant for their constant love and support.
