Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Thursday, February 10, 2022, Vandella “Van” Whitaker Inglett, 79, wife of the late Paul Foley Inglett
Van graduated from Harlem High School and went on receive her nursing degree at University Hospital School of Nursing in Augusta and the Medical College of Georgia. She worked at several hospitals including: Glynn Memorial Hospital in Brunswick, Georgia, Bullock Memorial Hospital in Statesboro, Georgia, and University Hospital in Augusta where she remained for 26 years. Van was a devoted nurse and a diligent employee who climbed the ladder from staff nurse to becoming the Vice President of Clinical Services. She implemented new programs within the hospital such as the: Adolescent Unit; Pediatric Intensive Care Unit; Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Neurological Intensive Care Unit; Oncology Unit; Alcohol and Drug Help Unit; Diabetic Program; Satellite Women’s Center; Sleep Lab; Pulmonary Lab and much more. Van was involved in many professional organizations, serving as chair and president of several. After her retirement in 1995, she became a part of the University Hospital Nursing Alumni. She also was involved with local charitable organizations and community groups. Van was a member of Warren Baptist Church.
Family members include her daughters: Candice Inglett Hand, Michelle Inglett Stanley; son: Matthew Paul Inglett; grandchildren: Harrison Inglett, Ella Hand, Evan Robert Stanley; sister: Dilly Hollimon (Kenneth), Velma Sager; best friends: Janet Pierce and Marylynn Goforth; caregiver from Comfort Keepers and dear friend: Grant Hall. In addition to her husband, Van is preceded in death by her parents and several of her brothers and sisters.
The graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Dr. David McKinley officiating.
