Augusta, GA - Mr. Volney Darwin “Varney” Granade of Jacksonville, FL, age 88, entered into rest February 16, 2015.

Mr. Granade was born in Augusta, GA, but spent most of his life in Jacksonville, FL. He served in the United States Marine Corps 6th Divison - Melanesia Micronesia, Orient in World War II, and retired from a career with ServiceMaster USA. He enjoyed photography, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years, and mother of his children, Mary Claire Mims Granade and his brother Raymond Granade.

He is survived by his second wife, Diane Granade; his daughter: Karen Granade Connell and husband Pat Connell of Folsom, LA; his son: James Glenn Granade and wife Kelli of Melrose, FL; grandchildren: Katie Connell, Christina Connell, Patrick Connell, Benjamin Connell, Sharon Connell, Bethany Connell, Daniel Connell, Jessica Granade, and Morgan Granade; great-granddaughter: Kylie Thomas; many nieces and nephews; step-daughter Genice and husband John Cason, of Chapel, FL, and their children Kristen, Alexis and Colby Cason.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 2:00PM in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Chaplain Dwayne Flowers officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
