Grovetown, GA – Died Monday, October 30, 2023, Mrs. Vera Cawley Walker, 94, loving and devoted wife of over 65 years to the late Mr. J. E. "Pete" Walker.

 

At age 14 she went to business school, followed by 19 years working at Davidson's Department Store. This is where she met Pete; a furniture salesman that would be her future husband. Then she and Pete built and ran a hotel in Galax, VA. After moving back home she worked at Merry Brothers Brick. While there she was one of the first people in Augusta to use a computer. She and Pete then moved to Florida and she then became a homemaker and did the books for her husband's business. In their married life they moved over 50 times. 

 

Family members include a nieces: Cathy Cawley (Jeff), Jill Walker Hauth (Bill), Ann Walker Ala; a nephew John Thomas Walker (Jerri) and great nieces: Ashley Cawley Young (Michael), Tammie Cawley Jennings; great nephew: Travis E. Cawley (Corena) and several other great-great nieces and nephews.

The family has decided to do a private family funeral at a later time.
