Mrs. Verna M. Landrum
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Friday, February 10, 2012 at University Hospital, Mrs. Verna M. Landrum, 85, wife of the late Joseph Herman Landrum, Sr.
Mrs. Landrum was born on March 24, 1926 in Rockwall, Texas. She moved to Augusta in 1947 where she met her husband, Joe. They were married for 50 years. Verna Landrum was a Cub Scout den mother and President of the Saint Mary’s School PTO. She drove mentally challenged adults to bowling and supported the Augusta Training Shop. She and her husband were members of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Westlake Country Club and the Irish-American Heritage Society. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and loyal friend. May her memory remain eternal.
She is survived by her children, Anne M. Landrum, John D. Landrum, Sr. (Kimberly), Joseph H. Landrum, Jr. (Carolyn), Peter D. Landrum, Sr. (Laurie), Mary Jane Landrum, and 5 grandchildren: Peter Jr., Thomas, John Douglas, Jr. , Olivia, and David, and 2 great-grandchildren: Chase and Casey. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph H. Landrum, Sr. and their infant daughter Sharon.
A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Scott Winchell celebrant. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Peter Landrum, Jr., Thomas Landrum, John Douglas Landrum, Jr., and nephews Mike Davis, Tommy Davis and Bobby Kelly. Honorary pallbearers include Olivia Landrum, David Landrum, Chase Landrum and Casey Landrum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary on the Hill Catholic School endowment fund.
The family will receive friends Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. and a vigil at 7:00 P.M. at
