Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at Select Specialty, Mr. Vernon E. Wooten, 79, husband of Carolyn L. Wooten.
Mr. Wooten was a native of Aiken Co., SC, but made his home in Augusta for over 40 years. He was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church. Mr. Wooten was a retired Life Insurance Agent with American General. He was an avid golfer. “Poppie” will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: Larry D. Wooten and wife Carla, Marty E. Wooten and wife Beverly; four grandchildren: Jennifer W. Brabham (Brad), Keri Beth Brown (Bobby), Matthew Wooten (Jennifer), Kimberly W. Deufel (Matthew); great- grandsons: Jack Brabham, Davis Brown; and brothers: H. Ray Wooten (Trudy) and William Dyches (Mary Ann). Mr. Wooten was predeceased by his father: Herbert L. Wooten; mother: Azalee Wooten Dyches; sister: Dorothy Lee Williams, and brother: David L. Wooten.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 26, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Jim McCullough officiating.
