Walther Trexel “Trex” Bolick IV passed away Tuesday, July 9th at the age of 30. Trex was born January 23rd, 1994 in Augusta, GA. He attended St. Mary’s on the Hill Catholic School and Aquinas High School, before graduating from the Academy of Richmond County in 2012. He then attended the University of Georgia, graduating in four years with a degree in Finance. While a student at UGA he joined the Kappa Alpha fraternity, of which he was a beloved and devoted member. Following graduation, Trex began a successful career in banking, holding positions with SunTrust, SouthState Bank, and Bank of America where he worked most recently as a Senior Underwriter.
In the spring of 2010, Trex took Chesley Cannon to Cold Stone Creamery for their first date, and over the course of nearly 15 years together they never looked back. They were married in March of 2019 and together welcomed two daughters to the world, Madeline McNair born April of 2022, and Sarah Neeley born June of this year. There was nothing that made Trexel light up like spending time with his girls. His wife and daughters were his greatest joy and deepest priority.
Trex will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, intelligence, strong faith, and unforgettable sense of humor. He brought people together and brought them to tears with laughter. He told stories that drew a crowd, often hilariously detailing his own mistakes and misadventures. Everyone who knew him felt happier and more at ease in his company.
Trexel is survived by his wife Chesley, daughters McNair and Sarah, his Irish setter Duck, mother Patricia Bowles Bolick, father Trexel Bolick III, brother Patrick Bolick (Kate), mother-in-law Cindy Kuhlke, father-in-law Billy Cannon (Thibault), brother-in-law Christopher Cannon (Rachael), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service is being held Saturday, July 13th, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Trinity on the Hill. The family will receive visitors following the church service—please be prepared to laugh, smile, and share your favorite memories of Trex, just as he would want.
