Walter Harry Davis
Augusta, GA – Mr. Walter Harry Davis, 84, surrounded by his family, went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2021. He was the loving husband of Barbara Hydrick Davis for 40 years.
“Harry” was born in Oglethorpe County, GA in 1936. At 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, a career that lasted for 31 years. He retired as a Master Sargeant, serving in the Korean War and during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his retirement, he began a career with the civil service that lasted 10 years. Not ready to retire, he worked in property management.
Family was the most important thing to Harry. Loving to travel, he spearheaded many family trips. He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and attending many of his grandchildren’s ballgames and recitals. Harry loved the mystique of the Masters and attended 51 Golf Tournaments. Everyone is invited to wear Masters’ apparel to the services.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sons: Keith Davis (Jodie) and Gary Davis (Teresa); grandchildren: Jeff Davis (Katie), Kelly Osment (Brian), Brad Davis, Greg Davis, and Anna Davis; great grandchildren: Easton Davis, Hudson Davis, and Ezra Yo Davis; sisters: Patsy Malcolm (Ronald), Shirley Ellington (Max), Barbara Webb (Bobby), and Teresa Donehoo (David); and nephews: Donnie and Wynn Etheridge and many more nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara Davis, and sister, Carolyn Dumay (Richard).
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 4pm at Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Ricky Coule officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30pm – 3:30pm at the funeral home.
