Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Thursday, September 10, 2015, Mr. Walter “Walt” R. McKenney, 84, loving husband of 34 years to Sue Maxey McKenney.
Walt retired in December of 2014 from the Evans Kroger after 20.5 years. He had been very active in Woodlawn United Methodist Church for the last 65 years and during that time he served in every capacity and position in the church. For 15 years he was the poll manager at Woodlawn for the Richmond County Board of Elections. He loved his family, church, people, and above all the Lord.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sons: Keith (Kim) McKenney and Jeffrey (Kristen) Levinsohn; grandchildren: Karson Bowles, Connor Bowles, Michael Levinsohn, and Kelby Lynn Levinsohn; brother: Joe McKenney; sister: Mary Thompson; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Guy Ashby and Lee Agee McKenney, first wife June McKenney, daughter Debbie, and sister Elizabeth Dykes.
A memorial service will be Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. at Woodlawn United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim McCollough officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 P.M. at the church until the time of the service.
The family would like to thank Regency Hospice and The Place at Martinez for their loving care.
