Wanda Gayle Sunderland
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at her home in Evans, GA, Wanda Gayle Sunderland, 77, the wife of the late Rev. Bobby Sunderland.
Wanda was born in Frederick, OK on September 29, 1937 to J.M. and Syble Smith. She served The Lord faithfully with Bobby as he pastored churches and worked in vocational evangelism in Oklahoma. The family moved to the south side of Atlanta in 1975 when Bobby accepted a call to the SBC Home Mission Board. While living in Atlanta, Wanda owned and operated 360 Degrees Travel Agency for 17 years. She enjoyed helping people with their travel plans. After HMB days Wanda and Bobby lived in Woodbury, Big Canoe, Marietta, Senoia, Peachtree City and Palmetto – all within Georgia. Following the passing of her husband, Bobby, Wanda moved to Evans, GA to assist with the care of her autistic grandson, Matthew.
Family members include: son, Mike Sunderland (Ann), daughter, Melody King (Arthur), son, Rev. Tommy Sunderland (Lisa), grandchildren: Jennifer Guido (Jason), Fawn Snowden (Chad), Amy Atkinson (Michael), Matthew Sunderland, Paige Sunderland, Mark Sunderland, Katy Sunderland and Kyle Sunderland and 8 great grandchildren. Wanda was preceded in death by her son, John Mark Sunderland.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 11 AM at Thomas Poteet & Son Chapel with Dr. Richard Harris and Dr. Brad Whitt officiating. INTERMENT will be at Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, OK on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 1 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Abilene Baptist Church Singing Christmas Tree Fund.
