Wanda Ivey

Evans, GA – Mrs. Wanda Maxey Ivey, 76, beloved wife of the late James W. “Jake” Ivey, Jr., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 28, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side.

Wanda bravely fought cancer for almost five years. Her family praises the Lord that now she is free of pain and suffering. She was loved and will be missed by those that called her Mom, “GanGan” (Grandmother), Aunt, Sister, Daughter, and Friend. She was born a fighter and fought all the way to the end. Among her most favorite past times, Wanda enjoyed traveling with friends, participating in the Willow Wood Garden Club, and spending time with family. In addition, she was an awesome cook that loved to decorate and entertain for any occasion. Her biggest joy was her grandchildren, all of whom, she beautifully spoiled rotten - an opportunity she believed was a God-given privilege.

Born in Brunswick, GA, Wanda met Jake Ivey in Atlanta. They were married for 44 years. She worked first as a radiology technician before leaving to help her husband as he started his homebuilding business. Wanda will be remembered most as a devoted and adoring wife, mother, grandmother, volunteer, and friend to many. She was a longtime member of Warren Baptist Church.

Surviving family members include her sons: Mark Ivey (Sonia) and Matt Ivey (Lauren), five grandchildren: Morgan Ivey Mullins (Kyler), Laney Ivey, Will Ivey, James Ivey and Claire Ivey, mother: Ella Frances “Patty” Maxey, sisters: Brenda Paradise (Art), Glenda Stephens (Danny), Jill Maxey, brother: Bill Maxey (Lori) sisters-in-law: Mary Alice Blanton, Charlotte Long (John) Ann Ivey, and brothers-in-law: John Allen Ivey, Wade Ivey (Judy) and Grady Ivey.

The family would like to recognize the wonderful caregivers during Wanda’s illness. From CSRA Just Like Family, Mary, Patricia, Robbie, Alexia, and Courtney were her angels on assignment. Tiffany, with Hospice Services of Georgia, was a true blessing.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary at Warren Baptist Church with Dr. David McKinley officiating. Burial will be private in Lincolnton, GA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wanda’s memory to the Community Foundation for the CSRA, P.O. Box 31358, Augusta, GA 30903
