Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, Mr. Warren Frank “Wink” Jenkins, Jr., 87, loving husband of fifty years to Mrs. Barbara “Bobbie” Hamilton Jenkins.
Wink was born in Vidalia, Georgia, and was a resident of Augusta most of his adult life. Wink attended and graduated from the Darlington School in Rome, Georgia. He was also a graduate of University of Georgia where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Early in his career he worked as a sales representative for Dale Carnegie before becoming a realtor with Blanchard and Calhoun. In his spare time, Wink enjoyed watching and playing golf. He was also a loyal DAWG fan. He was a member of the Augusta Kiwanis club and served as former Exalted Ruler of the Vidalia Elks club. Wink was known affectionately as “Pal” to his grandkids, and he was a friend to all that knew him.
Family members in addition to his wife include his daughters: Katharine Jenkins “Kathy” Burns (Lyle) and Leigh Jenkins Samuels (Barrett); grandchildren: Warren Burns, Hamilton Burns and Emma Samuels; sister: Katharine J. Lovvorn; brother-in-law: Hugh Hamilton (Mary Ruth), Vertis Woods, and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents. Warren Frank Jenkins, Sr., and Katharine Somers Jenkins.
The funeral service will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity on the Hill with Rev. Scott Hearn and Rev. Roy McVeigh officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Oliver Torbitt Ivey, Jr., Edmond Alexander Booth, Jr., Edgar Robin Bohannon, Benjamin Warren Lovvorn, John Ridley Lovvorn, Jr., John Wesley Harden and Warren Hardy Clements. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Pairs & Spares Sunday School Class, the Bible Beaters, the Wal-Mart Golf Group, and the ROMEOs, Clyde Lester, William B. Kuhlke, Jr., Carl Darby, Carl Surrett, Howard Clements and Jerry Harden.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill, 1330 Monte Sano Ave., Augusta, Georgia 30904.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, Georgia 30907, (706) 364-8484.
