MARTINEZ, Ga. – Entered into rest Friday, November 27, 2009, at the residence, Mr. Waylon A. Barefoot, 75, beloved husband of Frances B. Barefoot.

Mr. Barefoot was a native of Benson, NC but had resided in the Augusta area since 1962. He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force for a total of six years. He was a member of Fleming Christian Church. He worked with S&S Cafeteria, in sales with Richmond Produce and worked in real estate. Mr. Barefoot leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He loved to help people and was a kind and generous man.

Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: David W. Barefoot of Boundbrook, NJ, Craig A. Barefoot of Calhoun, GA; daughters: Jacquelyn B. Whitfield of Martinez, Gwendolyn M. Barefoot of Augusta; sister: Edna Marshall; grandchildren: Zachary L. Whitfield, Joseph W. Whitfield, Blake A. Clark, Marcie L. Whitfield; and great-granddaughter: Whitney E. Whitfield.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Ed Tiller officiating.

Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.
