Wayne Merritt

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, October 29, 2022, Mr. Wayne Daniel Merritt, 83, loving husband of 52 years to Nancy Lowe Merritt.

Wayne was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta and was a 1958 graduate of Academy of Richmond County. He served in the United States Air Force and when he returned to Augusta he worked at Columbia Nitrogen while, at the same time, started his own building business, Wesco, Inc. Wayne was a member of the Augusta Shag Club and the Homebuilders Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the French Market Grille West.

Family members, in addition to his wife, include his sisters: Jackie Smithson (Steve) and Anita Ivie; daughters: Ashley Lovett (Jason), Jami McMahon (Patrick), Tonya Merritt, and Tara Merritt-Merchant (Jay); and grandchildren: Rachel, Chase, Reese, Phoebe, Spencer, Oliver, Holly, and Nina; niece: Brittany Swicegood; and nephews: Justin Smithson and Wes Ivie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Daniel Merritt and Hazel Sills Merritt, and brother, James Wesley Merritt.
