Augusta, GA – It is with deep sorrow and much love the family of Mr. Wendell Marshall Gibson, 70, loving husband of Elizabeth Atwood Gibson, announces his passing on Friday, July 26.
Wendell was raised in Denmark, SC. He was a 1971 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. Wendell was a licensed funeral director in the state of Georgia for 53 years. In that time, he assisted hundreds of families in a compassionate way. He was a quiet man, but had a great sense of humor and loved a good joke. He was a charter member of West Acres Baptist Church. Wendell requested that everyone dress casually for the weather and no black or jackets.
Family members, in addition to his wife, include his daughter: Sara Gibson; brother: Kimball Gibson; and many loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son: Wendell Matthew “Matt” Gibson; sister: Connie Dale Gibson; and his parents: E.J. and Betty Gibson.
The family would like to recognize those they considered a second family at Capital City Ambulance, Grovetown Dialysis, and Amedisys Home Health Care for all their love and care and gratefully thank their dear friends Jack, Debra, and Bubba for everything they have done.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Malone Morris officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening, from 5:00 – 7:00 at the funeral home.
