Wilhelmine “Helma” W. McCombs

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Wilhelmine “Helma” W. McCombs, 81, beloved wife of the late Leo L. McCombs, entered into rest Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at her residence.
Mrs. McCombs was a native of Augsburg, Germany. It was there that she met her husband of 43 years. As an Army wife for 20 years, she and her husband were stationed in California, Colorado, Kentucky and North Carolina, making their permanent home in Augusta, GA. As a homemaker, Mrs. McCombs took great pride in taking care of her family. She absolutely loved preparing delicious meals for her family on special occasions. On Sundays, she enjoyed attending church and spending the afternoons with her daughter and granddaughters who brought her so much joy. Mrs. McCombs also enjoyed travel and gardening. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Joseph Hospital and was a member of Kingston Garden Club.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. McCombs was preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Maria Weichtmann; sisters, Maya Thurner and Minnie Weichtmann; brother-in-law, Albert Thurner.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna McCombs Worrall (David); granddaughters, Ashley Worrall and Aubrey Worrall; godson, Chris Stratton; close friend, Clarence Miller; and many nieces and nephews in Germany.
The funeral service will be Monday, March 19, 2018, 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Shauna Heule-Seifert officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
