Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, August 11, 2012, Mr. William Adolphus Dickens, Sr., 78, husband of Mrs. Doris A. Dickens.
Mr. Dickens was a native of Augusta. He served in the US Army in Korea. He spent the next 42 years working at the Graniteville Mill in the Sibley Division. Mr. Dickens worked for the Colonial Bakery in sales for 20 years. He loved to joke, watch baseball, eat Sconyers Barbeque and enjoyed working in his yard. Mr. Dickens was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Family members in addition to his wife include sons: Gus Newman, Ray Newman and fiance Kristina, Bill Dickens, Dennis Dickens; daughter: Judy Malin and husband Timothy; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister: Patricia Hodges.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Philip Burdette officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
