Augusta, GA - William Ray “Bill” Kendall, Jr., passed away August 27, 2022.
Bill was born in Valparaiso, Indiana June 15, 1940 to William Ray and Lillie Marie Kendall. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1965. He served in the US Army from 1959-1962.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 60 years, Lois D’Antignac Kendall, his son Bill Kendall (Lori) and daughters Beth Childress (Everett) and Lynn Barton (Tom); his grandchildren, the lights of his life - Rebecca, Latham, Hannah, Kendall, Thomas, Will and Caroline, and sister Rev. Kay Welsh.
In his 82 years, Bo, as he was affectionately called, taught his family and friends many things. He taught us to love and appreciate all history and his research of our family back hundreds of years.
He taught us how to bake his famous Bo cake with the best icing on earth. He taught us to love nature – birds, fish and gardening were his passions. Most importantly, he taught us how to love our family to the fullest. He was always happiest when surrounded with the ones he loved.
Bill had a brilliant mind – a true renaissance man. He had a dry wit and loved to tease. Finding spare change, eating Snickerdoodles, drinking a cold Pepsi, loving his Indiana Hoosiers, building his garden railroad, stopping at every historical marker on long road trips and cherishing our Mama – these are things we will never forget.
Graveside services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Cultural Center or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484. Please sign the guestbook at
