North Augusta, SC – Entered into rest on Monday, May 15, 2023, Mr. William “Bill” Henry Woodward, Sr., 83, loving husband of 61 years to Mrs. Carldeen Johnson Woodward. Bill loved the Lord and his family deeply. Growing up, Bill loved the TV show My Three Sons and he and Carldeen were blessed with their own three sons.
Bill was born in Aiken, South Carolina and raised in North Augusta, where he played football for and graduated from North Augusta High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, Bill, being an entrepreneur, owned several businesses, primarily in swimming pool design, construction, and maintenance. He built custom swimming pools throughout the CSRA as well as in Hilton Head Island, SC and Savannah, GA.
Bill served the Lord through various churches for decades. He served with missions and led ministry groups in Russia and Mexico over ten times and help plant several churches. He coordinated and delivered hundreds of Christmas shoeboxes and medical supplies to orphanages throughout Samara, Russia. He also served his local church with meal preparation and his cooking was enjoyed by numerous church members and youth groups.
Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: William Henry Woodward, Jr. (Julie), Bradford Scott Woodward (Amiee) and Benjamin Lee Woodward (Shawna); grandchildren: Trevor Addison Woodward (Shannon), Emily Michelle Babb (Jordan), Reagan Elizabeth Woodward, Chapman Phillips Woodward, Britton Anniston Woodward, Brayden James Woodward (Carolyn), Naomi Elise Canady (Chandler), Eli Rogers Woodward and Leanna Rose Woodward. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence Woodward and Dempsey Woodward.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Stevens Creek Church with Rev. Marty Baker officiating. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM and the service at 4:00 PM.
