Dunwoody, Ga. – William Charles Marsh, 91, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 16, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Joyce Ann Moody Marsh.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday February 20, 2012, at St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park.

Bill Marsh was born to Barbara and Herman Marsh on April 4, 1920 in Chicago, Ill. He graduated from Calumet High School, Chicago, Illinois. While at Calumet he was a State champion wrestler and Varsity football player. He attended University of Illinois, played football and wrestled at the University and was active with the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Bill Marsh was a photographer with Jaymar Studio where he met the love of his life Joyce Moody, and on February 19, 1947 they were married. He served in the United States Army, seeing action in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War, earning a Bronze Star, WWII Victory Metal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Asian Pacific Campaign Medal, American Service Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, United States Service Medal and other honors. He retired in after 20 years of active duty service with the Signal Corps and later as a civilian instructor with the Signal Corp. Bill Marsh was an avid golfer and was a caddy at Beverly Country Club, Chicago, in his youth. Between 1959 and 2004 Bill Marsh was a resident of Augusta, Georgia were he was a member the Goshen Country Club, Forest Hills Golf Association in which he was Club Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President throughout his membership. Bill Marsh was twice a recipient of the Memorial Award, twice the Ben Kapan Fellowship Award, The Presidents Award, Walt Badger iron Man Trophy and Super Senior Trophy, and a member of the Johnny Walker Hole in One Award twice. He was a devoted husband and a most wonderful dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. While in Atlanta, Bill Marsh was a member of St. Monica Catholic church and was a member of Saint Mary's on the hill Catholic Church while living in Augusta.

Bill Marsh is survived by his daughter Carol Bowman (husband Larry) of Snellville GA., his daughter Elizabeth Robinson of Kennesaw, GA., his sons William Michael (wife Nancy) Marsh of Mobile Alabama, son, Mathew Charles (wife Marcia) Marsh of Marietta, Ga., son Christopher John (wife Laura) Marsh of Dunwoody, Ga., eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild, along with nieces, nephews, and many extended family. Pallbearers will be Jack Marsh, Austin Marsh, Justin Robinson, Jared Robinson, Laura Bowman and David Bowman.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Services in honor of Bill Marsh, American Cancer Society in honor of Joyce Marsh or to the charity of ones choice.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 19, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
