Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, February 6, 2011, Mr. William Ramon Collier, 85, husband of Carol Carlisle Collier.

Mr. Collier was born on October 31, 1925 in Meriwether County, GA. A member of Lake Park Baptist Church since 1964, he taught the Findley Sunday School Class and was a deacon. After serving in the Navy in the Philippines during WWII, he worked at Georgia Power and retired as an auditor after 40 years. He was a member of the Augusta Civitan Club and served on the Augusta Rescue Mission Board of Directors. Mr. Collier enjoyed world travel with his wife Carol and also with his children and grandchildren. After extensive genealogical research he wrote his family history covering 400 years. He loved doing landscaping, gardening and stonework at the family home.

Family members in addition to his wife of 61 years include daughters: Kathleen Collier Burgess (Steve) of Nashville, TN and Jennifer Collier Sumner (Thomas) of Augusta, GA; son: William Carlisle Collier (Jan) of Decatur, GA; 6 grandchildren: Tim Burgess (Kim), Sarah Pettigrew (Talton), Ben Sumner, Blake Sumner, Stuart Collier and Payton Collier; one great-grandchild: Gabriel Burgess.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 3:30 P.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Bob Gosey officiating.
