William E. Fair, Jr. (Billy), 89, peacefully entered into rest November 8, 2024. He was born in Augusta, GA and in 1964 he married his wife of 60 years, Anne Marie Weigle, who he adored and loved.
Billy graduated from the Academy of Richmond County High School and the University of Georgia where he was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a huge fan of the Dawgs and loved the town of Athens where he made many lifelong friends. Family was so important to Billy. He was a devoted father to his four children and seven grandchildren. Billy was a regular spectator at their sporting events and activities and was always supportive. He had a long, successful career in real estate and retired as a manager at Meybohm Realty. He thoroughly enjoyed working with his clients and his co-workers as he was a true “people person” and had a natural ability to effectively manage people with his strong leadership skills. He was also quick to forgive and always gave the advice to “learn from your mistakes.” Billy spent a lot of days on the golf courses at the Augusta Country Club and Sky Valley, among many others. He looked forward to having his weekly lunch with the ROMEOS (Retired Old Men Eating Out Somewhere) with his buddies. After 30 years of marriage, Billy decided to convert to Catholicism and became an active parishioner at St. Mary On The Hill Catholic Church. He had a twinkle in his bright blue eyes, a wide smile, and a contagious laugh. He brought a sense of calm to every situation that will be greatly missed.
Billy is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Weigle Fair, his four children, Pat Fair (Kelly), Bill Fair, Mary Fair Davis (Scott), and Charlie Fair (Allyson), his seven grandchildren, Annie Fair, Shannon Mackay (J.T.), Rebecca Miley (Lathan), Daniel Fair, Morgan Davis, Charlie Davis, Charley Fair and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Eve and Myrtle Green Fair and his sister Margaret Eve Fair Wall. The family would like to thank Diane Johnson, Syneeta Walton, Brittney Booker, and Lovie and Carl Curry for their love, care, and compassion over the years.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11:00am with Father Mark Ross as celebrant. Pallbearers are Mike Kelleher, Charles Kelleher, Arnold Blackmon, Pat Regan, Charlie Davis, and Daniel Fair.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Aquinas High School Building on Tradition Campaign, 1920 Highland Ave., Augusta, GA 30909.
